This summer, teams from the Staunton District, Ashland District, and Aldersgate UMC joined with a super dynamic group of young people from Silverdale Lutheran Church from Seattle Washington team to complete a much-needed water tank for the 35 families Nuevo Chuicutama.  The tank was designed by two cadets from Virginia Military Institute.  Alexander Josiah and Vania Murcia visited the community in 2016 with a stove building team when the community was with little water.   They responded with the skill and follow through that is the hallmark of a VMI education.

The community had been suffering from dry periods because the water table has dropped to a degree that the current wells frequently go dry.   This large scale tank augments the communities limited storage capacity to ensure constant supply throughout the year.

The large scale infrastructure project was supervised by HSP master mason and home town hero Miguel Rosario.   The community completed the inauguration of the new tank on August 28th and wished to give special thanks to Marilyn Blag for her tireless efforts to raise the funds for the all that iron and cement.
