Join us in a participatory learning engagement that aims to foster the creation of a pluricultural society and help individuals achieve the good life. Led by renowned Guatemalan Maya scholars, Dr. Daniel Matuel and Professor Audalino Sac Cuyo, this 13-week course will explore the intricacies of Maya concepts of time and space. Held for two hours every Wednesday evening, this unique course is designed to combine ancestral knowledge with contextual forms of education to promote meaningful change across the globe.

This course is Ideal for researchers interested in Indigenous worldviews, teachers of Central American students, and anyone seeking relationship-centered knowledge. Through this course, we seek to bring continental knowledge into the dialogue of educational innovation and explore pedagogical possibilities, emphasizing interculturalism to create a brighter future while reinforcing Maya history and values.

At the core of Maya science and spirituality lies a deep understanding of systems theory and ecology. Through this study, the Maya recognize the interconnectedness of all things and understand the natural forces that govern our world. These insights formed the foundation for symbolic meanings that informed various fields including psychology, political science, and human conduct.

The course is offered by the Deep Ecology Education Program of the Highland Support Project, which facilitates culturally responsive education for Maya youth. Registration supports this important work!

  • Maya worldview.

  • Maya philosophy.

  • Maya mathematics and numeration.

  • Maya geometry.

  • Maya codices, current validity of calendars, Maya worldview and emerging cultural centers, Tabál (sacred places)
