Give a stove, transform a family

Here are 3 ways how:

We’re all about transparency.

We are so grateful for all donations we receive, and want you to know exactly where they go. With a gift of $350, you are providing an entire stove as well as employing a local mason for a family below from Salcajá.

heidy marializ lopez

Sponsored!

Heidy Marializ (15) cares for her two sisters Blanca Lile (13) and Treicy Camila (5) full-time since losing their mother two years ago.

Heidy has started working with her neighbor to help with housework and local farming to support her and her sisters. At this time only the youngest is able to attend school while Heidy and Blanca spend most of their time maintaining the house, gathering firewood, and finding work to support each other. They currently use an old wood stove that is beginning to fall apart and produces much smoke and little heat.
Having a new stove would provide some stability for the three sisters and return some time back to them so that they may continue to attend Women’s Circles together.

kellin yanira cahuex orozco

Kellin Yanira (22) and her husband Ruben Elías who is a mason for the community share their kitchen space with their bedrooms. Kellin cooks on a small open fire on the patio and sometimes shares kitchen space with her mother-in-law where she is able to use a full stove for cooking and meal preparations.

Together, Kellin and Ruben have a two-year-old son. They are hoping to nourish their young and growing family with a safe, dedicated space for a kitchen and full stove.

Manuela Rosario Guarchaj

Introducing Manuela (47), a wife and mother of three.

Manuela’s husband is a farmer and contributes most of his income to basic food and necessities. Manuela spends much of her time outside of household duties collecting firewood for cooking and heating because household income isn't enough to support the increasing costs of firewood that gets imported and delivered by trucks each month.
Having a clean-air stove would better conserve firewood consumption, returning time back to Manuela and allowing her to have more time to participate in Women’s Peer-to-Peer Circles each week.
