Young Adult Trip

  • Highland Support Project PO Box 7185 Richmond, VA 23221 USA (map)

Join us for a transformational trip to Guatemala

HSP and the Pace Center at VCU are partnering to create a young adult trip! Spend a week in the Guatemalan Highlands helping rebuild the Tzanjuyub and Pasquach communities who were forced to relocate three hours up in the mountains because of deadly mudslides. Not only will you be physically helping these communities through stove building, but you will be helping to heal emotional wounds through relationship building.

On this trip, you will:

  • Visit an organic coffee cooperative on the shores of the volcano-studded Lake Atitlan, a national treasure

  • Visit remote Mayan communities, rarely experienced by tourists to work with a local family and mason to build smokeless stoves, transforming the family’s health and living environment

  • Participate in our Maya Arts Program (MAP), which connects rural indigenous communities of Guatemala with resources to promote creative and critical thinking skills through a curriculum that respects local culture and history.

  • Spend a day in Antigua, a world heritage site

Cost: $1300 + Airfare

Price includes all in-country accommodation, private transport, food, cultural activities, translation, and a guide.
